About this recipe
Honey and garlic cook down into a glossy pan sauce that clings to the chicken. Broccoli and rice make it a full plate.
Pull the chicken when it is just cooked. The sauce needs a minute to thicken, and overcooked strips turn tough before the glaze is ready.
Have the rice warm and ready so you can sauce and serve right away.
SAUCE
Step 1
Stir honey, soy sauce, and garlic in a small bowl until combined.
COOK
Step 2
Season chicken with salt and pepper. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high.
Step 3
Add chicken and cook until browned and nearly cooked through, 6 to 8 minutes. Transfer to a plate.
Step 4
Add broccoli and 2 tablespoons water. Cover over medium-high and steam 3 minutes, then uncover and cook until tender-crisp, 1 to 2 minutes more.
Step 5
Return chicken to the pan. Pour in the honey-garlic sauce and simmer over medium, tossing, until thick and glossy, 2 to 3 minutes.
SERVE
Step 6
Spoon over rice and serve hot.
Tips
If the sauce reduces too far, loosen with a splash of water.
Use low-sodium soy sauce if you want to cut salt without changing the method.
