Air fryer salmon fillets with lemon and garlic

About this recipe

Salmon in the air fryer is weeknight-simple. Oil, lemon, garlic, and salt go on the fillets, then the basket does the rest.

Four fillets feed four people. Pull them when they flake and hit about 145°F in the thickest part.

Pat the fish dry first. Moisture on the surface steams the top instead of letting it lightly crisp.

  1. SEASON

  2. Step 1

Pat salmon dry. Stir oil, lemon zest, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika if using.

  3. Step 2

Brush the mixture over the fillets. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3 minutes if your model recommends it.

  4. AIR FRY

  5. Step 3

Place fillets in a single layer, skin-side down if skin-on. Air fry at 400°F for 8 minutes.

  6. Step 4

Check for doneness. Air fry at 400°F until the thickest part flakes easily and reaches about 145°F, 2 to 4 minutes more depending on thickness.

  7. FINISH

  8. Step 5

Squeeze remaining lemon over the hot salmon and serve.

Tips

  1. Thicker center-cut fillets need the full extra minutes; thin tail pieces may be done at 8 to 9 minutes total.

  2. If your basket is small, cook in two batches so the air can circulate around each fillet.
