Air fryer lemon cod fillet with lemon wedges

About this recipe

Cod in the air fryer stays moist if you do not overcook it. Lemon and garlic do most of the seasoning work.

Four fillets feed four people. Serve with a simple salad or steamed vegetables if you want a bigger plate.

Pat the fish dry and oil lightly so the seasoning sticks and the surface browns instead of steaming.

  1. SEASON

  2. Step 1

Pat cod dry. Rub with olive oil, lemon zest, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Squeeze half the lemon juice over the fillets.

  3. Step 2

Preheat the air fryer to 390°F for 3 minutes if your model recommends it.

  4. AIR FRY

  5. Step 3

Place fillets in a single layer. Air fry at 390°F for 7 minutes.

  6. Step 4

Check for doneness. Air fry at 390°F until the thickest part flakes easily and reaches about 145°F, 3 to 5 minutes more depending on thickness.

  7. FINISH

  8. Step 5

Rest 2 minutes. Finish with remaining lemon juice and parsley if using. Serve hot.

Tips

  1. Thinner tail pieces finish first. Pull them early so they do not dry out while thicker fillets catch up.

  2. If your air fryer runs hot, start checking at 9 minutes total so the fish stays flaky instead of chalky.
